Tahun baru Saka bagi umat beragama Hindu bertepatan dengan hari ini Minggu 14 Maret 2021.
Kata nyepi berarti sepi atau sunyi. Sehingga, pada saat perayaan tersebut tidak boleh melakukan aktivitas seperti pada umumnya, seperti keluar rumah (kecuali sakit dan perlu berobat), menyalakan lampu, bekerja dan sebagainya.
Tujuannya adalah agar tercipta suasana sepi dari hiruk pikuknya kehidupan dan sepi dari semua nafsu atau keserakahan sifat manusia.
